Recipe to prepare Rompope

Recipe of how to make Rompope. A traditional Christmas drink in homes in Honduras.


  • 4 egg yolks
  • 6 cups of milk
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • ½ cup of almonds
  • Rum to taste


  • Soak the almonds in boiling water and peel them. Then, blend the almonds with a little milk until smooth.
  • Boil the milk and add the sugar and the blended almonds. Continuously stir with wooden shovel until slightly thickened. Take it off the heat.
  • Beat the yolks with the rum and add them, little by little, continuing to stir until they are well incorporated into the milk.
  • Let cool and package in glass bottle.
