Recipe to prepare a delicious Snail Soup

Snail soup is a delicacy that is prepared in the northern part of Honduras.


  • 1 pound snail
  • 2 grated coconuts or 2 cans of coconut milk
  • 3 green bananas
  • 3 carrots
  • 2 pounds yucca if possible of the best yellow
  • 5 cloves of garlic
  • 2 large yellow or white onions
  • 2 green chilies
  • 2 chicken bouillon cubes or 2 tbsp bouillon powder (optional)
  • ½ cup fine coriander½ cup coriander of the width
  • ½ stick of margarine1 cup milk
  • 2 cups water


  1. Chop the onions, garlic, chilies, peel the vegetables and fry them (except for the banana), in margarine
  2. Add the cubes, the fine coriander and the ancho, apart, blend the coconut with the milk
  3. Add water to strain the mixture will make 3/4 liter of coconut milk
  4. Add it already strained to the sautéed vegetables, cook over medium heat for 15 to 20 minutes,
  5. Then add the green banana, let it stand for 7 minutes until the green banana softens, the peeled snail, already chopped into small pieces, is added and left for 5 more minutes.
